Exclamation: Point or Points?

Everything old is new again.

A long time ago, when computers made cool noises while connecting to the internet and cordless home telephones were a big deal, one exclamation point seemed to be sufficient.  But with the onset and stickiness of text messages, blogs and facebook we, myself included, have gradually shifted towards the double exclamation point.  It just feels felt more sincere.

Maybe it's my new haircut, maybe I am growing up or maybe it's just the proverbial itch to be different, but I feel myself leaning back towards the singlet.
